The Struggle For Stardom

On January 29th 1990 Kyle Kane was born in the ghetto of Charleston, West Virginia. His parents had no real dreams for him seeing what his brother and sister had done. They had both ended up in jail. He grew up like the normal child where he lived. Fights, encounters with the police, and other things until eighth grade. One year away from high school, Kyle decided to play football. This would not only give him a chance to show his athletic skills but help keep him off the streets after school. In his freshman year he was by far the best wide receiver on the team. They got to the championship but lost. Everyone wanted to see how the team would bounce back the next year.
My sophomore year started out really bad, I broke my leg in the first game.I was out 4 to 6 weeks. I left the rest of the season on my team's shoulders to make it to the championship so i could come back. They did it for me. They won the semi-final game on a field goal with no time left.I was so excited that I could come back for this very special game.I was back and you could tell that the Wheeling Pirates were not happy about it at all.I was in my normal comfort zone come kick-off and you could tell because I returned the kick to the 10 yard line.I went over and talked to Coach Williams and my quarterback James Johnson and decided it was time for my signature play.So James dropped back and i yelled,"Back left corner on the inside."He threw it to the back left corner of the endzone on the inside of me 2 or 3 feet out of bounds. I snagged it and dragged my two feet in and i looked at the referee."Touchdown,"the ref yelled and our stadium exploded. The rest of the game was a blowout.I added three more touchdown and one kick return.I won MVP no doubt  and my Charleston Tigers won the championship.
My junior and senior went almost exactly the same.Straight C's and I led the team in receiving yards and touchdowns. We won two more championship and i got a chance to play in the country's high school all-star game.I eagerly accepted.I played spectacular in that game too and I only know this because of the colleges that offered me scholarships.  These were the top 5 teams in the country.  But with a chance to play in my home state, care for my mother, and play for the third best team in the country, the choice was easy.  I chose the West Virginia Mountaineers.
I started off junior year like nothing changed.  Six touchdowns in the first two games.  The quarter back from my high school also came to West Virginia.  West Virginia had watched how well we played together and wanted to keep it going.  We had been in a groove since the first snap.  In the next three games, I scored a total of 10 times.  Six receiving, three kick returns, and one rushing.  On top of my amazing year so far, the Mountaineers were undefeated and ranked number on in the country.  We had beat Arizona and Oklahoma State, which were the number one and two teams before.
I had a spectacular season.  I led the team in touchdowns and yards.  In the Big East finals, I didn't play because we were playing Cincinnati (very bad) and couldn't risk me getting hurt for the National Championship.  West Virginia still easily was now in the National Championship game vs. USC, I exploded.  In the first half, I had four touchdowns.  In the second four more.  An eight touchdown game.  It was beyond unbelievable.  I won MVP easily and West Virginia cruised their way to a National Championship.   I decided to enter the NFL draft.
It is now draft time.  Out of my childhood and into my recent  past, everybody knew that I was going first to the Seattle Seahawks.  Then it was time.  "The Seattle Seahawks have drafted number 27 out of West Virginia, Kyle Kane,"  The announcer said.  The coach and owner came up to me and give me my jersey.  I was no longer number 27 of the West Virginia Mountaineers, I was number 27 of the Seattle Seahawks.  Seattle fans all around the country saw this as the chance for a Super Bowl win, with me leading the way.
In training camp, I was already showing amazing talent and a great connection with the quarter back Matt Hasselback.  In the first pre-season game, I only stayed in one quarter and caught two touchdowns.  In the next three pre-season games, I only played three quarters but I caught seven touchdowns.  The seahawks could not risk an injury to me this early in the season or at all during the season.  The first game I sat out due to a stomach bug.  Still the Seahawks easily took care of the Rams.  The next game, I played ok with only two touchdowns due to a sprained ankle  That ankle affected me for two more weeks.  I caught only one touchdown in each game. For the next game I was completely healthy and caught six touchdowns.  In the next game I caught seven!  One game I caught 9 touchdowns in a single game!  I caught two in the first quarter, two in the second, two in the third, two in the fourth and one in overtime.  I ended the season with 97 touchdowns.  Also, I had the most receiving yards and the MVP award for the season
In the first game of the playoffs, the 16-0 Seahawks destroyed the 12 and 4 San Francisco 49ers 56 to 0.  I had every touchdown.  Over the season, the veteran running back, Marshawn Lynch, and I had become great friends.  So after this game, Marshawn invited me over for dinner and I had a great time.  The next game (the NFC Championship) I showed up late.  Everyone was worried but I just couldn't find my jersey.  I had 12 touchdowns in a beat-down of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  So then the Seahawks would be playing the Indianapolis Colts in the Super Bowl.  Jacob Lacey, the star cornerback claimed responsibility for covering me and was trash talking me all week.  I stayed quiet and let my actions speak for myself.  I unleased on Lacey with 15 touchdowns!  Lacey was stunned and after the game when he was asked what happened, he simply said, "nobody should ever trash talk him again"  I won the MVP without a doubt.  Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl Champs.

seahawks

My idea for my short story is about a wide reciever for the Seattle Seahawks named Kyle Kane. I am going to go back in time. Start out with his troublesome childhood and a life surrounded by violence and getting in trouble with the police. He will go to a small high school only to become the greatest wide reciever in the state of West Virginia. Recruited by the West Virginia Mountaineers after his junior year of high school. After two years of college and a National Championship with him being the MVP he will be drafted by the Seattle Seahawks #1 overall. I will next start in the present at the beginning of his NFL career.
